My Family

I have been married to Robert for 33 years and a mother of 2 amazing children, aged 27 and 29 years. We were married in 1988, just before starting UBC Medical School. After graduating in 1992, I interned at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster BC. Our son was born in February of my internship year and after just a 2-week maternity leave, I completed my training.  Following locum work in northern BC, I opened my private practice in Coquitlam, BC.  Shortly after returning to the lower mainland, our daughter was born.  Starting practice and raising a young family was definitely challenging, however also a great deal of fun.

My husband and I were active in all our children’s activities including school, sports, Scouts, Girl Guides, and family outdoor pursuits, often taking on coaching and leadership activities while balancing our respective careers.  I enjoyed living and practising in the same community, at times delivering my children’s classmates’ siblings on the same day I helped at the school treat day. Despite this very hectic medical leadership schedule, we continued to integrate our non-medical interests. Our favourites include almost anything outdoors. We enjoy hiking, backpacking, trekking, kayaking and boating anywhere we can see the sun rise and set on the horizon, including many opportunity adventure vacations in North America, South America, Central America, Asia, Europe, and Hawaii with friends and family. We are equally at home in a tent or tarp as we are in a 5-star hotel. For fun and exercise my daughter and I currently enjoy Polynesian Dance lessons.
